We are complete in Christ by Christ alone because…

1) The Old Are Made New (v.11-12)

Circumcision was a sign of the covenant made between God and Israel.

Genesis 17:10-11

Circumcision was a picture for what God desires spiritually in His people.

Deuteronomy 10:16, 30:6. Jeremiah 4:4, Romans 2:28-29,

God accomplishes spiritually what physical circumcision never could. He cuts off our violent disposition towards God by violently cutting off Christ.

Isaiah 53:1-10, Ephesians 2:13-14

Baptism in v.12: Literal meaning (water emersion) vs. Figurative meaning (to be identified with Christ).

2) The Dead Are Made Alive (v.13)

We cannot fully know what it means to be alive with Christ until we fully know what it means to be dead to Him. Ephesians 2:1-5

3) Our Debt Is Canceled (v.13b-14)

Romans 3:19-26

4) Our Enemy Is Disarmed, Disgraced, & Defeated (v.15)

Colossians 2:10, 1 Peter 5:8

-Do I grow tired of hearing of the work of Jesus Christ?
