Episode 7. C.M. Kosemen

This week I sat down with a Turkish artist, historian, author, and speculative evolutionary biologist whose imagination will take you into previously uncharted realms of thought.

C.M. “Memo” Kosemen is a creative genius who is well known for his paleo-art, depicting dinosaurs and other extinct animals with an eye to revealing a little more of the true nature of these extinct beings from a bygone era.

Memo is a huge fan of engaging in speculative thought experiments – He’s not afraid to jump down the rabbit hole and see how deep it goes with a free and open mind, while still managing to be grounded in a scientific rationality that informs his art, as much as it seems at odds to it at first glance.

He is also a highly esteemed historian and author, who has helped shed light on some of the untold stories of his home country, as well as other parts of the world.

I had a really fun time talking with Memo, and we touch on surreal art, strange creatures, evolution, life on other worlds, cryptozoology, dinosaurs, the landscape and culture of Turkey, and what inspires C.M. Kosemen in his art and other pursuits.
