Railroading is a form of gamemastering where the players aren't able to influence much of the story and/or are forced down a specific road of events planned by the Gamemaster. Some swear by it, considering their game an interactive story for the players to experience, while others argue that it's a different beast entirely where the players and GM together create a unique story that shouldn't be "boxed in".
We discuss the two and compare them, drawing from experiences both as players and as GMs, offline and online, to see which form we prefer and how they both can complement each other if done right.
No matter your view on it, both ways of playing bring with it its own set of advantages and problems. Join us as we talk about player agency, GM storytelling, cooperative results, online roleplaying, GM-free roleplaying and much, much more!
