What is identity?  What is the purpose of it and what does it mean?  Knowing it well means we can share it with everyone else.  It is important in history and people need to learn to respect cultures and NOT use them as their side shows and jokes.  We are not here for your appropriation pleasure or for your bullying release.  For many of us here on Turtle Island, our identities are complex and have a rich story.  These stories get silenced and erased when those who do not wish to understand push their own narrative.  It also does not help that immigration can be a traumatic experience that puts people in survival mode.  Our parents did their best to share with us their stories of back home but we did not grasp the full understanding of who we are until we grew and began asking questions.
