7. Persevering Through Pain to Your Purpose
When many of us think of perseverance, we think of taking the next step. In adventure racing, the next step goes on for days and days with hardly any sleep. Our guests, Jason and Chelsey Magness built their relationship on a shared passion for adventure racing. As professional multi-sport athletes, teachers, coaches, acrobats and race directors they help thousands of people every year at live workshops, elite training camps to develop a mindset to persevere and overcome the next obstacle in your path. As part of Team BendRacing, they travel the globe competing in some of the toughest races on earth, battling rugged conditions and exploring the edge of human potential.
Team Bend Racing is known for making bold choices, having fun in the harshest conditions and inspiring new racers to enter the sport. Jason has been racing for well over 20 years and Chelsey for going on 13 years. They are known as the toughest team in America thanks to being the top American team to finish the World's Toughest Race, and in general are looked up to when it comes to anything involving adventure and gear. They are always trying to grow this sport and love to inspire people to get out into nature and out of their comfort zones.
Let’s face it, adventures can be difficult to accomplish! We start with grand ideas and plans, but we find the mountaintop experiences come only after hours or days of difficulties. Challenges along the way can bring discouragement, exhaustion, and frustration that might cause you to give up on your commitment. Developing an adventurous mindset will guide you toward perseverance.
