We’re living in a paradox: us, those in the Western world who have it well – those of us who have a safe home. An income. Support. Food on our tables. Time at our hands. Ideas in our minds. Visions in our hearts.
What we make of this privilege is a paradox. There seem to be two ways, seemingly opposing each other, yet co-existing: One is the age-old mantra many of us have heard from our parents’ and grand-parents’ generations: Be humble. Work hard to stay safe. Stay in control. Keep holding on to that safe job. Do as you’re told. Remember how lucky you are – we didn’t have it this comfortable, many others in this world hurt. The other is the responsibility for bringing change...
