Our Easter Service message will be drawn from John 20 where we encounter 4 different types of responses to the Resurrection of Jesus. On Sunday morning Mary Magdalene is the first to encounter the empty tomb. Her response is anxious and worried believing Jesus' body had been stolen. She runs to tell Peter and John who race to the empty tomb and upon seeing the evidence, believe that Jesus rose, because they remember He told them he would. Sunday evening the disciples were hiding out behind locked doors, fearful of the religious leaders. They believed Jesus rose but they were afraid of the cost. Their response to the resurrection was fear of the public backlash against them. How would people treat them because they were associated with Jesus? Lastly we have Thomas who was not with the others when Jesus appeared to them in the upper room and so he doubted. Unless I see him I won't believe it, said Thomas. In this message we will see how Jesus meets the needs of all four responses. Jesus meets us where we are at and He bridges the gap to help us trust in Him. Whether you're anxious or analytical, scared to publicly associate with Jesus or skeptical, Jesus meets you where you are and helps bring you to Trust Him.
Join us this Sunday to encounter Jesus right where you are. Jesus comes to us and He brings Peace and Hope into our lives. He washes away our sins and makes us clean and new in Him. Let's celebrate and experience the Power of the Resurrection this Easter at Mitchell Berean Church.
