7 ways to get through survival mode and live your purpose

Finding your purpose sounds like an impossible thing when you're barely surviving. Living in survival mode is difficult. It's exhausting. And it can push us past what we think our limits are.

We can find ourselves in survival mode through no fault of our own or as a result of the choices and decisions we've made. Either way, it's up to its to get through survival mode to being a survivor. When we're on the other side of survival mode, we can learn from everything we've gone through, and use the abilities, survival skills and character traits we acquired to work towards thriving, and ultimately to becoming a successful survivor.

In this episode, we talk about the five ways to get through survival mode so that you can move forward with living your purpose. They are:

  1. BELIEVE THAT THINGS WILL GET BETTER. This is temporary. It won't always be this way.
  2. DON'T SABOTAGE YOURSELF BY SELF-MEDICATING or making decisions or choices that will make your situation worse than it already is.
  3. DO HEALTHY THINGS: BREATHE, PRAY, DRINK WATER, MOVE, EAT as healthy as possible.
  4. OFFER TO HELP OTHERS. The fastest way to help ourselves is to help others.
  5. FIND WORK OR CREATE WORK. Whether you start a business or a side hustle, earn money doing what you can (that is legal, moral, and ethical) for people who need what you can do.
  6. USE GOOD WORDS ABOUT YOURSELF. Think about and write down the good things about you. Your good personality traits, character traits, and abilities. Never, ever use negative words about yourself.
  7. CONNECT WITH OTHERS. Don't isolate yourself. Isolation makes everything worse. It doesn't matter if you don't have the right clothes or don't look the way you would like to look. Go to a local church. Meet the pastor. Ask if there is anything you can do to help. Meet People. Smile. If you don't like the first church, try another and another until you find a place where you feel comfortable. This is how you create connection and community for yourself.
  8. The antidote to depression, sadness, despair and all the problems that can be associated with those things is PURPOSE, MEANING AND CONNECTION.
