7 Ways to Reduce Stress (in Stressful Times)

Listen Later

In these strange times, stress can rise and overtake us at the most unexpected of moments. But how can we stop it from consuming us, and affecting those around us?
In this week’s show, James talks you through seven steps that can bring those stress levels down.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Stress comes in two forms: controlled stress and un-controlled stress. Recognise the difference between the two and we soon come to learn about the things we can, and cannot control.
Sleep is incredibly important to our wellbeing. Lack of it can lead to fatigue and elevated stress. It can also lead to a craving for junk food which then leads to a crash in mood.
Disconnect from your devices for a while. Social media provides us with false expectations, and the technology itself promotes lethargy.
Relaxation is equally as important as exercise. Remove distractions and reconnect with yourself in order to build that inner peace.
Try to focus on one thing at a time instead of feeling overwhelmed by the many tasks we have ahead.
BEST MOMENTS
’There’s lots of things out there that are going to bring you down’
‘I could feel it like a dark cloud above me’
‘It’s about being there in the moment’
‘Find what your meditative state is!'
