#7 Why we feel lonely and what we can do about it

Solitude
When you choose to spend time alone in solitude it can be an excellent way of (re)connecting with yourself.

Loneliness
Loneliness is that sense of disconnection with other people, and a sense of belonging.

Steps you can take to feel less lonely.

  • Look at who you spend your time with and consider how that is making your feel and just honestly think about maybe making some changes in the people who you hang out with
  • Doing something for others can be a great way to feel better and to actually add some meaning to your life
  • If it’s possible, talk to someone about how you feel, that doesn’t matter if that is someone from your friends or family or if it’s just someone from a hotline where there are people dedicated to listen to you
  • Realize that what you are feeling, those feelings of loneliness, that that is a sign that something is not right in your life and that it needs to change
  • Be aware that suffering from loneliness can cause serious risk to your health, both mental and physical
