This week we are finishing our discussion on Mark Chapter 1. With each miracle, we are observing 3 things (CPR): the category, the people present, and the result. Try to remember that Mark is the first gospel written and therefore should be read without the influence of the other gospel accounts if possible. 

First story today is in vs 29

• Jesus heals Peter's (Simon) Mother In Law
  • category: authority of health and disease
  • people: Jesus, Peter and Andrew, most likely James and John and the MIL (a case can easily be made for Peter's wife to be in attendance as well)
  • result: MIL is so completely healed that she is up and fussing over her guests
• vs 32-34 Crowds come to the door and Jesus heals many
  • category: authority over spiritual and physical 
  • people: townspeople, Jesus and crew
  • result: nothing explicit 
• vs 40-45 A leper approaches Jesus on the road for healing
  • category: authority over physical and shows reverence for the law
  • people: leper, Jesus and his traveling companions
  • result: leper tells everyone and Jesus can no longer enter towns without causing a fuss

vs 35 Jesus goes to pray in a desolate place
vs 45 Now relegated to desolate places because of fame, Jesus is approached from every people coming from every direction
