Reader’s Workshop

We start a new unit on a Deep Study of Character. The kids can continue reading fantasy books or can choose fiction books to do the work for this unit.

Writer’s Workshop

The kids will review each type of writing we have gone over so far this year: narrative, opinion, and information. The kids will choose one piece from last week to develop more thoroughly.

What happened to math class?

This week we will be starting a new unit: Expressions and Equations. We will start off by using our knowledge of tape diagrams to think about how equations stay in balance. On Friday, the kids will be joining all other 6th graders in Irvine who are taking a mid-year basic skills test. The test is for district information and will not go in the gradebook.

History

The kids will continue the study of Ancient India, specifically, the development of Hinduism and Buddhism in Ancient India.

Science

The kids will work with Miss Stevens in science lab.
