73. Interview with Marc Hostovsky - CEO of Minoan
In this episode, I interview Marc Hostovsky, CEO of Minoan.
Minoan is an all in one, free, ordering platform short-term rentals and boutique hotels can use to buy from 200+ brands at steep discounts and save the hassle of dealing with the messy logistics (tracking, customer service, etc.). Aside from being able to manage all of your orders in one central platform, one thing that sets them apart from other purchasing organizations is they can also turn these properties into a shoppable experience so guests can order the items they loved from their stay, and their property partners can make a little extra money. They're at the frontier of a new way of shopping — one they call “Native Retail”.
It’s about discovering products you love “in the wild”, in environments where products are being used for what they were designed to do. In Native Retail, products aren’t boxed up in a display case like they are in stores and they're not hiding behind tactful merchandising on a phone screen, like they do in ecommerce. There’s no sales person over your shoulder — just you and the products; a little one-on-one time, your own time. Minoan believes these special moments are the future of retail.
