Martin Willers: "The best audio experiences are typically when people are saying like "When I was at this concert I had electric goose bumps all over my body". Some people are able to reproduce that experience at home".
My guest today is my new friend Martin Willers. We are both part of the Swedish music tech community STHLM Music City. Martin started the boutique design firm People People in 2009 with a group of friends. During ten years the firm started the lean hardware movement in Scandinavia, designing several wearable tech startups focusing on innovation, design and sustainability. They got voted one of Europe’s hottest startup by Wired magazine and was in 2018 acquired by the Swedish design firm Doberman (That, in turn, is now acquired by Ernst & Young.)
Listen to the entire podcast or vlog: The Power of Audio + Science + AI with Jasmine Moradi (https://www.jasminemoradi.com, Spotify, Apple Music & Google Play) Episode 7: Sustainability in Audio: How Stockholm-based design brand Transparent is making audio home systems sound greener for today's music lovers.
Soundbites:
#7.1The learnings from the design firm People People that for 10 years lead the hardware movement in Scandinavia focusing on innovation, design and sustainability. (4:56)
#7.2 How a spontaneous blog post on Tumblr turned into a successful Kickstarter campaign funding the first Transparent speakers. (10:24)
#7.3 Transparent Speakers: how do we create the perfect living room speaker to get people off the couch at a home party? (13:31)
#7.4 Latest edition: The Light Speaker: 3 in 1 design to last = portable audio speaker + a campfire/Swedish “mysbelysning” affect + sustainable design that lasts. (16:39)
