"I was bitten by the travel bug extremely early and as a child indulged my curiosity by ringing random numbers in countries like Alaska or the Congo and asking whoever answered questions about their country (until my parents figured out why their phone bill was always so high.) So, becoming a travel writer was a natural progresssion.
I like to go 'off-piste' when I travel; the countries 'next door' to popular destinations; the third cities, the dusty museums in tiny towns, the quirky festivals, the homely and the homecooked. I travel like I eat - never satiated, forever over-ordering (or overplanning) in an effort trying to cram in as much as possible. Life is too short to stay at home or to say no to cannoli for breakfast, right?"
