This episode’s guest is Dr. Scott Tinker. Dr Tinker is a Director for the Bureau of Economic Geology; the State Geologist of Texas; Chairman of the Switch Energy Alliance; and the professor holding the Edwin Allday Endowed Chair in the Jackson School of Geosciences at The University of Texas at Austin. 

I have been a huge fan of Dr. Tinker’s work over the years and was very excited to get him on the podcast. He is someone who is a powerful voice in the energy space and if you haven’t heard him talk you are in for a treat. 

This episode we talked about how we can have more productive conversations on energy and policies in a nuanced way without falling into the trap of hyperbolic mainstream media rhetoric. We dive into the geological history of the earth’s climate and the challenges involved with modern climate science. Lastly, we discuss energy poverty and how it is one of the biggest humanitarian problems that we face. We explore the realistic ways we can lift humanity up and give people access to cheap and abundant energy.
