About Talk: Reading old stories like the one about Ruth, in our family photo album called the Old Testament, is a great way to practice empathy. If we can identify with Ruth, Naomi, Orpah, and Boaz, we can definitely identify with all sorts of people, especially those who are unjustly treated at our Southern border who are migrants just like Naomi and Ruth. We can even identify with those unphased by their treatment. Flexing our empathy muscles makes us more generous with ourselves and more connected to God for what we really need. We want to make love happen.
