With the recent release of the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, the success of YA Dystopia as a genre has hit another bump in the road. With a thorough discussion of The Hunger Games, Divergent, and Maze Runner series, along with brief discussions of some other dystopian works, we dissect dystopia and try to figure out why the genre with so much potential has produced so few works of quality and so few works overall.
