We have been graciously overpaid to enter the field and work for God! As much work as we think we have done or could do to earn what God has given to us, our labor will never measure up to what He has graciously promised to us.

This changes our motivation to be about His work. We do not serve God to earn a wage, because the wage we earn for our sin is death. But we serve Him with thanksgiving for what He has already unfairly (praise God!) paid out: His shed blood and a promise of eternal life.

Matthew 20:14 - Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you.
