Love What You Play

8: The Role of Parents, Coaches, and Athletes | Donna Perry

Listen Later

"When we think of their physical development, the mental expectation that we have of kids is much higher than what a lot of them can cope with."

Donna Perry is a mental training specialist and has consulted elite, amateur and professional athletes in most sports. In this talk, Donna highlights the roles of not only the parents in development, play time, and asking questions, but the roles of coaches and athletes as well. Donna also discusses the importance of open lines of communication very early on in the season, being able to change developmentally with your athletes through their teenage years, and the impact of putting responsibility into the hands of youth.
