Toni Brell (DE/NL) works at the intersection of installation, performance, and sound. Like a set-builder, they create complex landscapes that are meant to be approached from different angles. Drawing inspiration from ASMR and Foley practices, many of the sculptures they create emit sounds through touch and are often linked to gestures, rhythms, and shared rituals. Inviting activation, the audience may become active participants – characters in a narrative that unfolds.
At the residency in Albe (Kapellen), Brell is developing a new body of work that engages with the tactile and emotional textures of the sonic environment.
