Kate (she/her) grew up in a fundamentalist, evangelical church. She did her best to make religion fit in her life, but after leaving high school, she began to explore and enjoy life outside of the church with less guilt and shame. She is now a professor of linguistics at William & Mary, where she helps her students learn how to think critically, a skill that helped her in her own journey out of church. She is one of the smartest people I know, and I’m honored to call her both my friend, and my sister!
