For many areas of business, taking bad advice from people who are not experts, or even reasonably knowledgeable, will not be catastrophic - it will just be expensive.

However, some areas have more dire consequences, and a misstep can cause devastating financial ruin, or even time in jail.  These are not the areas we want to take advice from people who claim to be experts, without the practical knowledge necessary.
