Ebenezer Samuel is a fitness director of men’s health and certified trainer with more than 10 years of training experience. He’s logged training time with NFL athletes and track athletes, and his current training regimen includes weight training, HIIT conditioning, and yoga. He is the head of Training Innovation at Flexit and is part of the core team of the newly launched Men’s Health Muscle YouTube channel. We discuss building muscle and the benefits it will provide for your body, such as increased strength and weight loss as your body is outgassing calories. The way you lift will really impact how your muscles develop, but we also get into how the shape of your body also plays a role in how your muscles grow and develop, and that you can do the exact same workouts as someone else, but develop muscles that look different.

“I can lie on a bench to bench press and I can kind of, especially if I’m not paying attention or if I’m not really into it, I can be a little bit lazy with my abs and glutes, right? If I’m gonna do a pull up or a chin up, or even a mountain climber, my abs and glutes have to be involved, so I think having some level of body weight, understanding how to manage that is just as important, if not more so sometimes, than picking up the dumbbells.” 14:55
