82. Why Following Your Passion Is Wrong - Jake Mullins

Listen Later

Today, we interview Jake Mullins. The previous chief operating officer of Cricket Wireless, a man who knows what it takes to build a business.

Jake is the CEO of a real estate company, a consulting company, co-host of the Beer and Business Podcast, and the author of Adapted Leadership.

In today’s episode, we learn about how you can grow a successful business. Why it’s important to fail and what a Chief Operating Officer’s keys to success are. We learn about motivation, why passion isn’t necessary, and why growth is so important.

Two keys of today’s lesson:

  1. Following your passion is wrong, don’t follow your passion… find out what you’re good at, find your talent and BRING your passion.
  2. Finding your purpose is simple. One sentence “purpose is helping people.” If you spend your life serving and doing things for others, you will be happy.

Your life changes as you learn this one thing. Your purpose is to help others. How can you give more? If you struggle with the mindset, like so many others, of how can I get more, you’re gearing up for failure. When you answer the question of how to give more, everything will change for you. Give what you have.

Books mentioned in the show:
1. Adapted Leadership
2. The Big Leap
3. The Bible
