  • "Field of Dreams" A Conversation With Corey Dwyer

Corey Dwyer was born on Web Street in Columbia, wedged between two trap houses, with a mom in and out of prison and a 12-year-old brother running the household. By age 10 he was carrying drugs in his socks without fully understanding what he was caught up in. His grandmother had one strategy: keep him busy — church, sports, anything but idle hands. It worked, but it didn't erase what came next.

In this episode, Corey walks through the night a shotgun was pressed to the back of his head — "You saw my face" — and the prayer that got him through it. He talks about walking onto Benedict College's campus depressed and self-medicating, with no direction, until one professor, Dr. Ronnie Hopkins, refused to let him coast and signed him up for Call Me Mister, a program built to put Black men in front of classrooms. That decision reshaped the entire trajectory of his life — eventually leading him to found Forward Progression Mentored Apprenticeship Program, a 501(c)(3) built on one idea: "We don't give them a plan. We assist them in their own."

Corey also opens up about marriage and fatherhood — how a couples course called Two Becoming One "grew him up overnight" after 15 years married, why he's intentional about pouring into his son after growing up with a father who was never around, and why he still needs his wife's honesty ("No. You were wrong.") to stay accountable. Through it all, he comes back to one scripture — Matthew 6:33 — as a daily operating system, not just a Sunday quote.

A conversation about survival, obedience, and what it looks like to actually change the trajectory of a family.

  • Beauty For Ashes A Conversation with Adrien Vonyetta Watson

Adrien "Vonyetta" Watson has been a voice on the radio since she was 17 — Big DM, Hot 103.9, on-air in Charlotte, now touring with Core DJs and Shade 45. Her words have stopped strangers mid-crisis, twice, without her even knowing until they told her.

Then on June 2, 2024, her son Julian — an innocent bystander — was killed by gunfire at a graduation celebration.

Tonight, Vonyetta gets honest about the wrestle that followed. The anger. The doubt. And the scripture that carried her through — Isaiah 61:3, beauty for ashes.

We talk about her nonprofit, Julian's Justice — real numbers, real impact: 31 long guns, 21 handguns, 3,000 rounds of ammunition surrendered off the streets. Her vision for a Justice Academy and the Pathfinders program. And what it means to hold the umbrella for someone else while you're still standing in your own rain.

"I'm not the mama you want to go toe-to-toe with."

    Still standing. Beauty for ashes.

  • "Where The Love Lives" A Conversation w/ Nehemiah Cardona

Nehemiah "Nemo" Cardona grew up watching his parents live on faith — a bivocational father, a cross-country move to plant a Christian rehab ministry, years with barely enough money to get by. That same faith carried Nemo from Pennsylvania to California to Columbia, SC, where God called him and his wife to start over with no community and no safety net.

Tonight, Nemo gets honest about what that move actually cost. His wife's depression during the transition. His own failure to be present when she needed him most. And the marriage transparency it took to rebuild — including conversations about infidelity they've had publicly, on their own podcast.

We talk about creativity as an extension of the Creator, the short film "Where Love Lives" he wrote and filmed with his wife in under 48 hours, and why he'd rather deal with hard conversations than an empty home.

"What you don't confess can't be fixed."
