An extreme focus on identity politics leads to violence. That is a simple fact. I wish I knew how to get this stopped. I don’t. What I do know is this. Yugoslavia was an alright country in 1980. But after Tito died and the politics of identity re-emerged, it took 10 years to start the war that destroyed the place. Identity politics in Canada is taking us down the same road.
