840 The Mountain Between You
In relationships, when there is the mountain between you, it becomes a challenge to overcome conflict, to overcome adversity, and to stop tearing down what you're trying to build up.
This mountain is communication or the lack there of.

Men and women communicate differently. And when you're communicating the way you understand, most likely your partner isn't getting the same message, or he/she is interpreting it differently.
Communication is one of the cornerstones to building your relationship, your marriage.
What happens is that we build up walls and that becomes our focus. That creates the mountain. We play defensive and let the heart of our loved one slowly be broken.
When you choose to communication with assertiveness, advocating only for you; your thoughts, your values, YOUR way, you are telling your partner --- You DON'T matter! You're worthless!!
That sounds harsh. But it's a reality in marriages. It may not be an every minute reality.
However, it is one of the golden cornerstones that will strengthen your relationship, strength to battle any potential storm.
You know communication is key. So how do you begin communicating better to enhance your marriage conquering the mountain between you?

- THINK - True, Helpful, Important, Necessary, Kind; Considerate expression.
- ACKNOWLEDGE - Paying attention to emotional and physical cues. Be attentive to his/her thoughts and expression.
- LISTEN - What your partner is saying matters. Stop tuning out and tune in to his/her sentences. Don't finish his/her sentences.
- KNOW the heart - React in defense vs. Respond in love.
