For the last two weeks, we've talked about Jesus the way his contemporaries talked about him. Pretty much everybody agrees that Jesus was an important teacher and lots of religions even consider him a prophet. Those claims are not unique to Christians.

 

This week, we're going to consider a identity that Jesus claims for himself. It's a claim that causes a lot of the people who followed him around to turn away and one that only a committed disciple of Jesus can accept - and even then it's hard. Following Jesus isn't easy, but it is life giving.
