Often, starting from birth, we have to pivot as parents. Pivot away from our vision, our ideals, our own values. This can be because of circumstances beyond our control, life changes, or simply the child in front of us. Because that child may be struggling or actually may be thriving in a way different than what we visioned or had hoped.
