  • The called-out ones and the sent-out ones …
    • The church has a mission vs. the mission has a church

      • Matthew 10:7-11 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

      9 “Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— 10 no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep. 11 Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave.

      • Proclaim the kingdom and display the kingdom …
        • Not just something the church can do or should do or something super-involved people can do - but it is a central purpose of the church - the church as an expression of displaying the kingdom and proclaiming the kingdom …
        • Live in an open-handed fashion …
          • Freely you have received - (have we?) - so then give freely …
            • Life, time, attention, affection … and money …
            • The church is dependent on the go … on the fly … you are not going to have everything planned out …
            • You aren’t going to be ready …
              • These guys were not ready by any standard we would be comfortable with …
              • The growth is up to God …
