I first met Alan when taught at my elementary school Churchill when I was in 4th grade. I soon after took private lessons from him for two years. In 2007, we were on the 1st place team of the United States Amateur Team East, together with FIDE Master James Critelli, National Master Evan Turtel and National Expert Nick Panico. In addition to teaching chess, Alan runs a medical billing business Revenue King. He has previously served as a Chess Life Editorial Assistant.
