Sometimes, especially as young people, we can get caught up in the wrong definition of what it means to be excelling at our job. Maybe we got a little bit of authority and started making too many big changes too early on, or maybe we focused on a task at hand at the expense of asking someone how their day was going.

What Andrea and Desiree teach us in this episode is that sometimes pausing and actually observing what is going on in the workplace can earn us far more respect than storming in like a bull in a china shop. There are always things happening behind the scenes that just can't be understood unless they are given time to reveal themselves. It is precisely an attentiveness to this fact that could make a young and ambitious person trying to make a name for themselves look mature, rather than silly and naive.
