In this episode, we will discuss how to develop an expository sermon. I want to share ten key elements that every expository sermon should contain. These ten elements of sermon preparation will help you think through the essential steps you need to follow.

These key elements will help you answer the following questions:

  • Observation - What does the passage say?
  • Interpretation - What does it mean?
  • Unification - What is its central theme?
  • Divisions - What are its divisions?
  • Implications - What does it imply?
  • Application - What does it require?
  • Illustrations - What are helpful illustrations?
  • Introduction - How can it start well?
  • Conclusion - How can it finish strong?

Following these elements will set you on the path to better expository preaching.
