9 Catherine the Great- Why She Was the Peak of Russia’s Westernizing Reforms
Did you know one of Russia’s two “Great” rulers was German? Catherine the Great, a German princess, continued and deepened Peter’s Westernization. She reformed education (even for women) and law, fought the Pugachev Rebellion (against Westernization/serf oppression), and expanded Russia to the Black Sea.
