Chronic Fatigue, also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis, and is a neurological condition which can impact anyone of any age. Symptoms can include pain, disrupted sleep, difficulty thinking, and changes in blood pressure, hormones and body temperature.

 

Chronic fatigue is a big subject with many causes, yet poorly understood and often frustrating, as patients go from one health practitioners to another seeking answers.

 

This is the first of a 2-part series where we are joined by Dr Tim Ewer who has over 20 years experience in holistic and integrative medicine with his own private practice in Nelson, New Zealand. He is also a specialist physician. Dr Tim is also on the board of the Australasian College of Nutritional & Environmental Medicine (ACNEM) together with Dr Ron and Dr Michelle.

 

Dr Tim joins us as we explore some of the many factors that can cause chronic fatigue, a debilitating and frustrating condition, and discuss how it impacts on people’s lives.

 

We cover the affect of stress, environmental toxins, including heavy metals and nutrition, the role of the liver and the mind-body connection.

 

About Dr Tim Ewer

Dr Tim Ewer has been working in integrative medicine for the last 23 years and has a health centre near Nelson, NZ. Prior to that he was a hospital physician for 10 years after gaining his medical degree and specialist qualifications in the UK. He has trained in a variety of modalities including nutrition, mind-body therapies, acupuncture, bio-energetic techniques, and environmental and hyperbaric medicine. He has been an advisor to WHO on natural medicine.
