Today we are joined by Craig Gradidge of the investment advisory firm Gradidge Mahura Investments or GMI for short, and one of the best to do it. Craig also has the famous blog “The Gradidge Patch” where he covers a lot of basic personal finance, behavioural finance, but most importantly his unique skills on BBBEE shares.
He earned his Bcom degree from Wits, did his Bcom honours in Unisa, then went further to study the unique Post Graduate diploma in Financial Planning from the University of Free State. Our most favourite degree of his is the University of Cape Town MBA where he studied under prof. emeritus Brian Kantor.
He’s a certified financial planner and a proud member of the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa. He’s been in the industry since 1996 and his experience ranges from operational, managerial, and executive level in a number of large financial services businesses like Old Mutual.
Our conversation with Craig ranges from his career in financial services as a young black professional, personal finance, the power of a simple budget from a standpoint of an individual and a juristic person such as a company. He share’s some very personal stories on the founding of GMI and how it almost went under in 2011/2012 and the bounce back from that.
