For this episode, Karen Harding spoke to Lachlan Flanagan all about his EP release, ‘Something Worth Designing’.
We also discussed inspiration for songwriting, not being afraid to write about the big issues and your feelings, the joy and experience that can be brought through busking and so much more..
The unique pop songwriter shares his thoughts with the rawness of an honest lover or your introspective friend. Lyrically explores what it is to be human. Like entering a forest he surveys the darkness, the light and the unknown.
His songs are filled with a compelling mix of hope, love, sadness and wonder. His music builds with sparse instrumentation, stunning arrangements and a voice that contains a compelling mix of urgency, flow and optimism.
His debut EP ‘Something Worth Designing’ is a powerful emotive exploration of themes of death and rebirth. The title taken from the idea that in order for something new to be created old ideas, ways of being, and ideas often need to be first cleared away. This is illustrated through the wonder filled pop song ‘collapse’ and the inspired hopeful ‘Anything is possible’. His music is available on Bandcamp and many other streaming platforms including Spotify.
