Talky Taffy

9: Making Money is Hard

Listen Later

Thank you for listening to Talky Taffy, where we take a bite out of a titillating topic and savor it.

This episode, Doug and Emily talk about the way we earn our money. The focus initially is on tipping as how we've adopted it in North America culturally, and then how it's an inherently discriminatory transaction that doesn't achieve its intended purpose. We briefly touch on universal basic income (though that could be a whole episode on its own). We end with a discussion about reparation payments made to African American families and what the opportunities here could be.

WE WILL BE TAKING SOME TIME OFF AND WILL BE BACK IN MID-LATE JUNE.

You can watch us live on Twitch every other Wednesday at 5:30 PM central time. We're also on Twitter and Discord!
