Checked Out and Overdue

9. Some of the Best of Jane Austen

Listen Later

“The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.” (Northanger Abbey)

In her 41 years of life, Jane Austen managed to share stories that changed the literature and culture of England in the 1700s. Her novels were humorous critiques of the treatment of women, education, the day-to-day life of regular people, and so much more. And, of course, she weaved these topics through romantic stories that have been adapted time and time again.

In this episode of Tuesday Tales, Taryn gets to share her love of Jane Austen with Chelsea! Listen as they go through some of their favorite parts of each of Austen's works, and discuss some of the significant topics that she included in her novels.
