Episode 464: Last episode we discussed comparative advantage as it relates to the success of countries and corporations but the same concept applies to INDIVIDUALS. The problem that most people have is not knowing what their comparative advantage is. Should you pursue your passion or force yourself to get out of your comfort zone? I believe the best path to personal success is to use your God given talents and abilities to relieve other’s pain points.

Episode 315: In this episode I celebrate the 6th anniversary of the Wealthsteading Podcast with a special story about my grandfather’s remarkable life. He was an amazing man that faced insurmountable obstacles but he never faltered. As an immigrant, in poverty, fighting through WWI trench warfare, surviving as a prisoner of war, enduring the Great Depression…he overcame every obstacle that was placed before him. His life is a legacy of hard work, resilience, perseverance, and faith.

Episode 304: Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, season’s greetings to all. In this episode we’ll take a break from the banter of the stock market and instead reflect on a story about a man that was depressed, discouraged and that had almost lost his faith. So for the next few minutes, sit back, open your mind and your heart and listen to the enduring story of American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Episode 303: Billionaire investor Ray Dalio has recently penned a piece for LinkedIn entitled “The world has gone mad and the system is broken.”
I think Mr. Dalio is wrong. The world is what it is and if anything is broken it’s Ray Dalio’s economic model. In this episode, I’ll discuss why the epic confluence of Technology & Demographics (depopulation) are hyper deflationary and why old economic theories of inflation are poor indicators of the economy.

Episode 214: I receive many questions asking if people stuck in dead-end jobs should go back to school. We’ll discuss that topic in this episode. It all boils down to ROI- return on investment…which in this case should include both the tuition as well as opportunity costs.
In a lot of cases, NO…it does not make sense to go back to school. But that doesn’t mean that you should stop learning or achieving demonstrable skills.
You also need to learn to MARKET yourself.
Speaking of careers…here’s a link to a very interesting and informative interview I did with Austin Martin of the Homesteady podcast. Austin’s emphasis is on farming but the concepts we discuss relate to career and wealth building principles: https://www.thisishomesteady.com/how-to-farm-or-homestead-when-you-have-no-extra-money/

Episode 202: The phrase, “catch a falling knife” is used to describe buying a stock that’s dropped significantly in price. Today we’ll discuss that concept as it relates to prison stocks.
Speaking of falling knives, I want to congratulate my friend Patrick Roehrman of www.mtknives.net, who recently received an extremely nice endorsement from Mike Rowe, the Dirty Job’s guy.
