The conversation got a little heated as Queen made a case for Port Harcourt as a potential host city as I was worried about the state of the facilities in the Stadia in Lagos.

All over the world, Stadium naming rights continues to be a major source of funding revenue across the sporting sphere. However, in Nigeria; we are still stuck to the time-honored tradition of naming such edifices after dead politicians and what have you; instead of joining the trend that seeks to develop the industry across all spheres.

Football comprises of a wide value chain, across the world this is well exploited to develop the industry in totality. In Nigeria, it is tough to invest in even more structured industries not to talk of a Football or Sports industry that lacks the necessary structure. If our Sports industry is well structured it can lead to the creation of jobs, development across the socio-economic landscape as well as Nation Building.

A few weeks ago, the Nigerian Basketball Federation announced the appointment of Golden State Warriors Associate Coach, Mike Brown as the man to lead the Tigers to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
