Holes is a key film for many of us. It opened our eyes to the issues in youth corrections, it gave us hope that seemingly intractable battles in climate change could be solved if we carried a boy up a mountain, and yes, it was also an important sexual awakening.

Holes tells the story of Stanley Yelnats IV, an unlucky young man played by a debuting Shia LaBeouf who grapples with his family's curse as he's sent to Camp Green Lake to dig holes all day after a pair of famous shoes end up in his possession.
