Albert Abraham Davidoff, who would later be known as “Bummy Davis”, was an up-and-coming boxer in Brownsville, Brooklyn in the mid-1930s and he would eventually go on to be known for having one of the meanest left hooks in the business.

But Bummy never fully met his potential in fighting and by 1945, he was over it and ready to move on with life. At the age of 25, he retired from fighting and was ready to sell his bar and move the family to Florida, when four men entered his bar and attempted to rob Bummy.
