+++++
That Big Question…: How old are you?!
Maybe a better question is: “How old do you feel? And how do your loved ones see you?”
Right now, in this very moment, looking at yourself in the mirror (even if it’s just a virtual one) — how old do you feel?
The question “How old are you?” is starting to feel more and more irrelevant… maybe even a little offensive. It can lead to prejudice and harmful conclusions like: “Oh, so you’re no longer productive,” or “From now on you’ll be more and more dependent on others’ care,” and so on.
Your chronological age — the one tied to your birthdate — is just a number. At best, it serves to decide if you’re eligible for retirement, or for a driver’s license, or if you’re “old enough to drink.”
The other “age” people often talk about is your biological age: sometimes measured by simple tests like “How many times can you get up from a chair in 30 seconds?” — or more elaborate biomedical or biochemical exams.
But the real question is: How old do you feel? That’s the one that reflects your vitality, your energy, your drive to live.
So… how old do you feel?
