The established consensus points to Al Qaeda hijackers using planes as massive kinetic catalysts, causing catastrophic structural failures due to impact combined with intense, prolonged fires.

• The Structural Miracle: The initial survival of the buildings was an "extraordinary structural miracle." The design showed incredible redundancy, with heavy spandrels redistributing the load after the planes took out major exterior columns. Thousands escaped below the impact zones.

• The Fire, Not Melt: The most common misconception is that jet fuel (burning at 1,500∘F) could not have melted steel (melting at 2,750∘F). We clarify the engineering fact: Steel does not need to melt to fail catastrophically. • The Van Romero Retraction: We clarify that explosive expert Van Romero publicly demanded a retraction for being misquoted, confirming that his final opinion was based purely on the science of fire-induced weakening, not on any evidence of planted explosives.

• The Seismic Spike: Seismologists refuted the claim that sharp spikes indicated subsurface detonation. Detailed plots of the data show the seismic energy building in intensity as the structure collapsed, consistent with a progressive failure, not an isolated, sudden explosion.
