A hostage situation usually involves a party capturing people against their will to make some type of demand, law enforcement professionals, politicians, and loved ones are generally on the other end trying to make a deal with the hostage takers. Jared talks about the Iranian Hostage crisis in the early 1980s and how a CIA plan was cooked up to make some Americans disguise themselves as a Science Fiction movie crew to get out of the country. Jared discusses how this hostage crisis had ripple effects to our modern day which resulted in the Obama administration giving 1.7 billion dollars in cash to a terrorist state. Ethan talks about the infamous DB cooper and the legend of how a polite and courteous man took a plane hostage and got away with a parachute. We discuss some lesser-known situations as well that shed light on the perils of going in to heavy to “rescue” the hostages.
