Wayne Nance was always a weird kid who only exhibited odd behaviors. By the time he was 17, most were on speaking terms with him but not actually friendly and the same year, 1974, the town of Missoula, Montana started to experience a small terror in the community, as several unsolved murders occur.

Eventually signs point to Wayne but there is never anything solid to tie him to the crimes.

Years later, after more and more bodies turn up, the authorities still believe it’s Wayne doing it, but are unable to hold him on anything.

It seems Wayne could do no wrong until one night when he entered the Wells house and came across more than he bargained for.
