Then we read first-draft stories inspired by Potato War, with tales ranging from military mashups to low-stakes food fights that escalated faster than expected.

Potato War:
Depression name for the war of Bavarian succession between 1778 and 1779, because the operations largely revolved around the acquisition or denial to the enemy of supplies.
