2026 marks 20 years since Elizabeth May became leader of Canada’s Green Party. She is the longest serving female leader of a federal party in Canada’s history. In 2011, May became the first Green Party member to be elected to the House of Commons. She remains the MP for the Saanich-Gulf Islands riding in British Columbia.
